USITT Midwest Regional Section presents a variety of programs during the year throughout the four states of the Midwest Section. We are committed to presenting programming that helps to educate our membership about new technologies and trends in all areas of the theatre and entertainment industries.

2025 Midwest Educational Technical Theatre Symposium

The 2025 Midwest Educational Technical Theatre Symposium (METTS) hosted by the USITT Midwest Regional Section and Presented by Associated Controls + Design, ETC, and DeLong Rigging Solutions will take place July 25-27, 2025, at Millikin University in Decatur, IL. METTS is also Sponsored by Dana Taylor Consulting.

METTS is a weekend of training sessions for K-12 educators, including Certified Staff and volunteers who work with students in a technical theatre capacity. This event is specifically targeted to support and improve the skills of those training the next generation of technical theatre professionals.

METTS sessions cover a wide array of industry topics and are curated to train participants on the basics of technical theatre. Experience instruction from industry professionals during sessions like Counterweight Rigging Training and Designing a Flexible Repertory Light Plot to Sound Design: From Recording to Tech, How to be Flexible and Adaptive, Patch & Play: The Joy of Fabric Transformation, and more!

Need a place to stay during METTS? Optional housing is provided on-site at Millikin University and may be added during your registration.

*Housing is available Friday. 7/25-Sunday, 7/27 for $40/night. Attendees must provide their own bedding for a Twin XL bed.
